La Petite Périgourdine

I had frequently stopped here for a pre or post cinema (Grand Action) nibble of a fabulously moist paté de campagne with a glass of Chinon so when my pal John Baxter, who poked fun at me in THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WALK IN THE WORLD and promises to do so again in his next book, suggested lunch, it was time.

John ordered the generous serving of paté from which I shnorred (stole) liberally while sharing a demi of Chinon. I opted for a sweet gazpacho-deliciozo!

p 3

For a main course we each had the confit de canard with garlicky potatoes-a classic dish properly prepared for just 15 euros.

A wide selection of cuisine grandmère is available at 6-8 euros for starters and 14-18 euros for main courses and a daily luncheon formule of entrée, plat or plat, dessert at 14.50 euros.

La Petite Périgourdine will definitely be included in my forthcoming book, TERRANCE’S 50 FAVORITE PARIS BISTROS guided by the principle of excellent rapport qualité prix.
