Chez Ly

Just a few blocks off the bustling Champs Elysees M and Mme. Ly have created an elegant oasis of fine Asian dining, combining elements of both Chinese and Thai cuisine. It is a favored destination of the foreign diplomatic corps.  As I arrived I crossed paths with the Chinese Ambassador to France who was to be followed tomorrow by the German Ambassador.

My meal began with steamed shrimp ravioli served à la dim sum as I awaited the arrival of demi bouteille of Crozes-Hermitage.

The next dish was a combination of jumbo shrimp and coquilles Saint-Jacques prepared with sea salt and pepper. Crunchy and greaseless.

To cleanse the palate before the signature Peking duck I was presented with a beef salad with lemongrass.

The famous Peking duck was presented in two servings: the razor thin, crackling skin on the thinnest of crepes was followed by the meat in basil sauce.

A scoop each of green tea and lichi ice cream and this lovely, relaxed and delicious meal was over. but I will be back for a candlelit dinner
