Bistrot Le Valentino

After a long collaboration with Christian Constant, Alexandre Lallemode and chef Alain Carrère have joined forces, first with Au 41 Pentièvre and now next door with Le Bistrot Valentino.

 

Having had luch here last week with my friend the galeriste Jane Roberts, I was anxious to introduce my friend Bob Glaser to Alexandre's hospitality and Alain's cuisine. I was a bit early so Alexandre poured me a 2015 sauvignon blanc from Pascal Jolivet.

There is a 28 euros 2 course menu and 34 euro luncheon menu featuring classics like oeufs mimosa and paté en croute and onglet de boeuf, navarin d'agneau,grilled daurade and roast cabillaud.

We continued with the sauvignon blanc with a burrata salad featuring tomates tricolore.

Having both recently read David McAminch's DUCK SEASON, Chef Carère's magret with gnocchi and peaches jumped off the menu, and it was delicious. We opted for Yves Cuilleron's 2105 Les Vignes d'à coté Syrah to accmpany the duck.

There were a few drops left in my second galss of Syrah, so I chose camembert and Saint-Nectaire to finish it and Bob had panna cotta with strawberries and raspberries.

This is the kind of place that feels like your personal cantine aftre just one visit.
